Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

A friend of mine from Canada, who now resides here in the US owes on a credit card for : $27000.00...but does not have $ to pay it....the Credit Card company is harrasing her....what can they do to her in the US if anything?

She can be sued here, and if she's working, upon receipt of judgment, it could levy her wages and bank account.
