Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Frustrated and Angry end-of-auto lease owner!

I just completed a five year auto lease, turned in the car back to the dealer in good condition. A few days ago, I recieved a bill for excess mileage, chip in the windshield, and dents to the driver's door, which I totally disagree with and refuse to pay. Can this be reported to the three major credit agencies and hurt my credit rating?

You are definitely in a dispute. It would be good to document, if you still can, the condition the car was in when returned. Contact the lessor and tell them in writing you are disputing the claim. You can always write a credit bureau they file the claim with that it is disputed and you are not liable. Any inquiry re: your credit, will contain their claim and your response.

If the total costs are less than $5,000 you may be able to sue them in small claims Court.
