Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

If a girl that I was dating a couple of years ago now decides that she wants me to pay her back for things she did I.e. as in sending my mother money when I couldn't or giving me money or wit not now wants me to pay her her 2,000 dollars just out of spit I don't totally agree with it all she has is emails between me and her all I agreed to was to make payments but is there anything legal she can do to me legally with no contract with me

If you agreed to make payments that is evidence of an agreement that the money was a loan. If you do not make the payments she can collect the money in court.
