Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Greetings
In May of this year I had an accident that required I be taken to the hospital for stitches. The hospital treated me horribly refusing to give me water while the police were interrogating me strapped down in a bed. It was an extremely emotionally distressing disorder and for the most part remain slightly emotionally traumatized to this day. I just received a bill for $1000 and am tempted to return a reply threatening a lawsuit for emotional distress if they do not cease and desist collections.
Would writing and threatening such potentially make them back down from collections so we can each go our own way?

If it was just not giving you water while the police were questioning you [perhaps they did not want to interrupt the questioning] you have no successfuol cause of action. The hospital must have done somethng very bad for they to drop collection activities.
