Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Harassing Phone Calls

I Have an auto loan with Ugly Duckling Corporation and they employ a group of vultures in Texas to call me at home and at work every day to get their next payment. My loan payments are current and I wish to know how I can get them to stop making these calls as I am now getting into trouble from my boss at work (he works in a different location to me) he has been getting calls from them too.

Please help me

Re: Harassing Phone Calls

The creditor is violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. A collector may contact you by reasonable means at reasonable times and reasonable places. A debt collector may not contact you at work if it knows your employer disapproves.

You can stop the calls by writing them a letter stating that your employer disapproves, they are harrassing you, you are current, and if they continue they will be in violation of the Act.
