High Pressure Vacation Time Share Contract

Texas resident; On vacation in Cancun, Mex. 7/1998; approached by hotel; champagne breakfast 1st morning of vacation to tour the property; ultimately a high pressure time share tactic; didn't realize until after the breakfast and hotel tour; was taken over by and man who spoke fluent english; more pressure next 2hours; utlimately I broke; they charged my american express on that day for some 22,000 pesos (around $2200 usd);they said if I ultimately chose to end the contract I'd be out the $2200...tired of the pressure ,ready &in extreme need for a relaxing vacation that hadnt even begun, I wanted the meeting to end, I succumbed to their tactics; I never made anymore payments to the company, never used their properties ever, never received anything from this company (Calif. based I believe); was willing to forfeit my $2200 and be done and 1 year later after the awful encounter, I'm being sued by them...my contract says I financed some $5000 usd over 60 months and they're saying I have a balance of some $13000 usd and say if I'll pay them another $3600 usd the situation will be settled in full....Please advise if I can be set free of obligation...surely I'm not the 1st person "taken" by a company like this

Re: High Pressure Vacation

A man in your condition really shouldnt have a credit card. Your only option now is to either pay or fight the lawsuit which you have a fair chance of winning. You could also countersue for fraud.
