Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
i was hired to do work by the hour by a corporaton and now they owe me almost 20k and refues to pay. How can I sue them? Can I be my own attorney?

Contact the California Economic Development Department (EDD) and file a complaint for unpaid wages. They are a free resource to assist you in getting paid. Start there before filing any suit, as they can be very persuasive and helpful in recovering wages. Though you may have been hired as an independent contractor, often EDD will determine that you were really an employee and not an independent contractor, which then triggers their ability to help you collect.
