Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
My husband hit an electric pole two and a half years ago. the company had not contacted us about payment so we contacted them right from the begining. they told us that we would be contacted. i received a letter stating that they went to court and the judged favored them. we never even knew that they went to court. shouldn't we have had a say in all that? i thought he was supposed to be served? now they want us to write a proposal letter stating how we are going to pay $13,0000!

You should look at the court file to find out how they claim they served you with the lawsuit and that you failed to answer the complaint, so they got a default judgment against you.
