Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

illegal use of my credit/bank card by my employer

What can I do about my employer using my credit/bank card without my knoweledge or approval? They charged over $2,100.00 to my account over a period of 2 months to pay for concrete, because the companys credit was denied.

Can I sue for more than the amount charged?

I filed a complaint with the FTC and my bank.

Should I do anything else?

thank you for any help.

Re: illegal use of my credit/bank card by my employer

You say you notified your bank; is this an ATM card, or is it a real credit card? If there is another company involved you should notify that company that your employer is not or is not further authorized to make charges on your card. That would make the credit card company liable for any charges they accept. They will stop accepting charges immediately. The unauthorized use of someones credit card is a tort and makes your employer liable to you. Taking that position will likely cause you to lose your job. Future charges, on the other hand, will simply advise your employer that you are not a bank and cannot afford to sustain further charges. Good luck.
