Re: help me get my name off a joint card

You should first tell the credit card company that you want the account closed immediately, and that from this time on you will not accept responsibility for any charges. This notification should be in writing, and sent to the credit card company by either regisrtered or certified mail, return receipt requested. Unfortunately, anything that has occurred previously will remain your responsibility as between you and the credit card company (i.e., you will still owe the $14,000.00 to the credit card company).

Next, you will have to sue your friend (probably in a Texas court) to recover a judgment for the money you will be responsible to pay the credit card company.
