Judgement given and the collection agency out of business

How do you get the original Judgement from a collection agency that has gone out of business so we can continue the collection process? Letters have been sent-all comes back. Phone Numbers all disconnected. Whats the next step? We do have a copy of the judgement.

You can obtain a copy of the judgment (or the whole file) from the Clerk of the Court in which the judgment was entered. Our firm customarily takes collection cases such as this on a contingency.

You should be able to go to the courthouse in question and get a certified copy of the judgment.

Just go to the court which issued the judgment, get a certified copy, and you can do all of the procedures available to recover the amount of the judgment.

No need to drive yourself nuts trying to get a the original copy of the judgment. You can return to the court where the judgment was issued and receive a certified copy, which is just as good as the original you once had, (which by the way was not an "original" -- only the court truly has the one true original - everything else is a certified copy.
