Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Judgement against me for legal fees

I,unsucsessfully sued an insurance company as a result of a traffic accident. Now their attornies have obtained a judgement against me for fees incurred . They have contracted a collection agency and have added interest to the ammount.

It has gone from $7,000.00 to $20,000.00

First: Is that legal?

Second: Could their original figure, 7K, be negtiated down?

I will apreciate an answer and if you think I am in need of an attorney, please refer me to one.

THank You

Re: Judgement against me for legal fees

If I don't know if it is legal or not without looking at your paperwork. Somebody needs to review the judgment and perhaps the court file to determine exactly what happened. Whether it is legal or not, if they have a judgment they're going to be able to collect unless you do something. If it has gone to a collection agency it should be pretty easy to negotiate that down. If you would like, you may contact me and I will be happy to look over your documents and advise you of what your options might be without charge.
