Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I have a judgment against me in California that was in 2003. I did not go to court because I moved and my father whom was paying my rent went to jail due to a parol violation. I was in a car accident without insurance and the other driver was driving on a suspended license. I would have won the case since the accident was his fault. although the police officer didnt think so There was a witness there that said she would go to court on my behalf. They are now threatening my wages. I dont make much and I am trying to fix my already damaged credit. Can I petition to go back to court? Im 29, this happened when I was 22. Is there a statue of limitations? The judgment was settled for 10K now with interest its 17K! I want to avoid bankruptcy if possible. They want 300 a month wich I cant afford at all. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

My heart goes out to you. Judgments, once entered can rarely be reversed, and there are time limits, which you are way beyond the time limits. I think your only option is bankruptcy or negotiate some other settlement to clear up the judgment against you. If they want all their money, they can continue to garnish your wages for years to come. They must renew their judgment every ten years for them to continue to pursue you.
