Re: Judgment
If you pay a judgment, you should demand that the judgment creditor sign a from called an Acknowledgment of Satisfaction of Judgment. It should be notarized and filed with the Court. You may need to first file the original with the County Recorder's Office to release any judgment liens.
After it has been signed, notarized and filed, send copy fo the satisfaction to each of the 3 major report companies. It will improve your credit report somewhat. The judgment will still be there, but it will show as paid.
Re: Judgment
not necessarily. payment of a judgment simply is your personal proof that the obligation was in fact paid. however, in order to put everyone, including your credit agencies on constructive notice of your paid judgment, and to effectively remove any related negative marks from your credit reports, you definitely want to file an acknowledgement of judgment satisfaction with the court. you may then use this to report as substantial proof that the debt is no longer there and should be removed prompty from your credit reports. if you would like further legal assistance or direction in doing all of this, contact our law office today for a free consultation.
