Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Lawsuit

My spouse recieved a large personnel loan from a friend which was drawn up in a contract and notorized. The contract included the monthly payments due & interest over a 3yr period.Payment in full has not occured and my spouse was served. I was also named in this suit. My name or signature never appeared in the contract. Do they have the right to name me in this suit? If not, how can I remove my name?
