Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

is it legal for a cell phone company to charge you early terminations fees? I had so many problems with them so I dropped them and they are trying to collect after 2 yrs of trying..with interest

The major carriers have stopped doing this because of so many complaints. A couple of them have been sued over early termination fees and have agreed to pay settlements to those people who were affected. You don't mention which carrier you're referring to, so I would say you should do a Google or Yahoo search to see if your carrier is one of those who's been sued for this practice.
