Is it legal for credit card/collection agencys to call your place of employment?

My wife and I are in hard times right now and cannot pay our credit card bills any more. they called her place of employment and she almost lost her job. I cannot see paying minimum payments when it all goes to intrest and fees and our ballance goes up, the bank gets rich and we go broke.

It is illegal for them to call at your job. You two look like you could possibly be candidates for a Chapter 13, which would immediately stop all the calls and all the bills, and would probably give you some breathing room.
