Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I need help regarding legal documents I got from Legal Recovery Law Offices. This is a debt collection law office. I am enrolled with a debt settlement company that has helped me settle many of my accounts. The legal documents has different documents titled "Written Interrogatories" and "requests for production of documents." I recently got a letter that says "Meet and Confer Notice" and I don't understand exactly what I need to do. I contacted my debt settlement company who has referred me to a Unbundled Legal Services that wants to charge me $275.00 to help. I don't know if I should pay or if there is really "REAL" free legal help that can assist me.

If you have recieved Interrogatories and a RPD, you are in the middle of a lawsuit and are sinking fast. There is no free help for you from any source I know of.
You need to consider bankruptcy if you have not already. Debt negotiation companies are a rip off. Goverment officials in charge of protecting consumers have been telling the public about the abuses by debt negotiation companies for years.
Do you know how much you paid for that debt negotiation "service"? You might be shocked.
You are being sued and most likely a judgment will be obtained that will result in garnishment of wages, levy of accounts, liens, etc. If you owe the money then the bank will win the lawsuit.
Debt negotiation companies do not protect you from suits and the phone calls from creditors. Your credit history gets worse as you try to settle the credit card debt. In the meantime, you get sued and the debt negotiation idea fails. If you are successful in settling any debt, then you get a 1099-C and pay taxes on the debt cancellation. There is absolutely no benefit from debt negotiation programs. There are no free lunches. You get paid for your services at your job or business and everyone expects to be paid to work for you.
