Levy on Account

A levy was placed on my account, there was not enough money what was owed, is it legal for banks to pay it off even if there is no money on the account?

Re: Levy on Account

The levy creates a freeze on any money in the account at the moment the process server or sheriff's deputy served it on the bank. If you do not file a claim of exemption in a timely fashion, the bank is legally required to turn over the funds that were frozen at the time of the levy.
