Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I live in ca and I was sued for collections. I have an AMEX card that I was unable to pay due to financial hardship - my husband bacame disabled , he is unemployed at present. I have a house which I'm trying to save from foreclosure. My question is, I have CMR scheduled on 02/17/10 in Van Nuys court, do I need to be there? What should I expect and what papers should I prepare ?

Generally, with case management reviews (CMR), the clerk will review whether the complaint has been served and set a trial and other dates. Take a look at the documents served upon you to see if one says "no appearance necessary" at the case management review. (You could also call the court clerk to make sure.) You should file and serve a completed case management statement form (see the Judicial Council website if you need one) at least 15 days before the scheduled date.
