Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I am living in California. In 1889 I divorced my first husband. Now, 22 years later a credit card collection agency just contacted me asking to pay $9,000 debt on my ex-husband credit card claiming I have cosigned the credit card application in 1885. I have no recollection of cosigning anything, but even if I did isn't any status of limitation on it?

Do not speak to them. A 22 year old debt, or a 122 year old debt for that matter, is not legally collectible and it is a violation of the law for them to even contact you over it. In fact they owe you $1000 plus your attorney fees if you were to sue them.
