If I am living in Nevada, can I be served with a summons to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court for a debt collection case?

You can be served anywhere so long as the proper method for service of process is used. However, you cannot be sued in Los Angeles so you must object to venue in Los Angeles and maybe jurisdiction depending on the facts. If you were served in Nevada then the company suing you knew you did not live in LA. If you do not object to venue and jurisdiction (if applicable) the court will be able to decide your case and the court can enter a valid judgment against you if the creditor wins. That judgment can be enforced in Nevada by having a proper Nevada court issue a sister state judgment against you. You might have the opportunity to contest the judgment in the Nevada court but that would be a long shot so first fight it in LA.
