Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I loaned money to someone who signed a contract saying he would pay it back with interest. When i asked for the money back he refused to pay it. What is my best approach for getting my money back? The amount was around $65k.

You do not indicate if the person owns a house or other assets you can go after once you have a judgment. if he does not now he might in the future. Probably the only things to do are have an attorney write a sharp letter to him to try to get a payment plan set up and then file a lawsuit to get a judgment. You have 4 years to sue on a written contract but you should do so as soon as possible. It sounds like a simple Superior Court unlimited jurisdiction case, but many matters develop complications as ones gets into them.
