i have a long standing unpaid account. now, a collection agency is suing me. what is my next step. i have already been served the papers.

Calculate Statute of Limitations to see if timely, if not then get an attorney to help you and if so then either work a deal or get an attorney to work a deal or at least file an answer within 30 days so a default is not taken.
