Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Lost my employment 5 years ago, was able to make payments to my creditors, by working in temporary positions, hopping to get a full one. Suddenly the Temp. Agencies stop calling, no jobs available, employers were not hiring. Have been getting unemployment for about a year, not enough to make monthly payments, soon unemployment will cease.
I am no longer able to make payments to my credit cards debts, my creditors are giving me payment options, but cannot meet the terms, because I have no income. What then? Can they sue me and be able to put me in Jail?
I tried debt consolidation, couldn't keep it up, didn't have money for the monthly payment. Dont want to go into bankruptcy; don't want to lose my house.

Nobody can put you in jail for a debt except a child support agency. Why exactly is it you don't want to consider bankruptcy? Have you sat down and spoken with a bankruptcy attorney?
