Married in the state of California, do i become responsible for my wife's debt that was incurred before marriage, ie: student loans?

Most attorneys will tell you that assets and liabilities before the marriage remain the separate property of the spouse unless they become community property. For example, if her loan was put in both your names, or you became a guarantor, etc. Consult with an attorney in your area for specific advice.
