Old medical bill

I monitor my Fico score so a couple days ago when Isaw it had went down I pulled my credit report and saw that a collection agency has now reported that I owe a hospsital 500$ I have never seen anything in writing from them. This has to be at least 8 yrs old because of havent used this hospital for yrs, if I owed it at all.I have great credit so I am pretty angry about this. Do I call them, write them since I only know about it cause of my credit report..thanks

Don't deal with CAs except in writing, certified mail RRR. Write them a FDCPA validation letter (any of the ones floating around the net will probably do). I can write the letter on my letterhead for $100, if you have $100 to burn.
