Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Hello -

I have a medical provider who I paid in full two years ago. The medical treatment was not covered thru the insurance - so I authorized them to charge my credit card. I received an invoice marked "PAID". Now they are telling me that they never received payment. I have provided the paid

invoice, but they are not satisfied. I don't know if my card was charged at the time - I was

not well and not on top of my finances.

Do I still owe them the money now if it was not paid? Is there a time in which they need to process payment if it is offered? Is my PAID invoice worth anything, or do I need to be able to show a canceled credit receipt, etc?

Thank you.

If the bill is marked paid, that is some evidence, but I think you need to get proof from your credit card company to show that money came from your card company to pay this bill.

Write the provider certified mail RRR with a copy of the Paid invoice and tell them if you ever receive one more dunning phone call or letter you will sue them for violating the Fair Debt Collection laws.
