Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I met someone off the internet and he asked me to go to a resort with him and when I told him that I wasn't working he said that it would cost $400 and that I could pay $100. Then, He booked the date without collecting the amount and then I told him that I didn't want to go anymore because that weekend didn't work for me he said that I still owed him a cancellation fee which was the $100 do I owe him for the trip and he hasn't shown me any proof of buying anything ?

I would think this would be looked at as a contract of sorts. I think it all depends on what was agreed to and what was discussed...
If he gives you the evidence that he paid for the trip and he is owed the cancellation fee, then you would owe him the $100.00 you promised to pay. This is the same evidence he would need to show if he pursued this in small claims court, so I think you are well within your rights to ask for it before paying the money owed.
