I am trying to find out the minimum amount in Callifornia that a company MUST accept as payment toward settling a debt...and I'm having trouble finding the info. Can you help?

There is no minimum payment required at law. The amount of payments are those amounts to which the parties may agree. It is improper for a collection agency to call you several times a day about a single debt. This is a form of harassment and is forbidden under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The FDCPA also requires that the agency identify themselves with each call and with each call state something to the effect that "This is an attempt to collect a debt and any information provided may be used for that purpose." The agency has other requirements, such as not making calls before 8 AM or after 9 PM.
