Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Minor use of credit card for internet services
I recently discovered charges on my credit card that I did not make. Upon researching the charges, I found out that my 15 year old son entered my credit card number (found on a bill) to gain access to an adult internet website. He did not expect me to find out about it (obviously) and he did not realize the card would be charged if he just entered the site on a trial basis and never returned to the web site. He did not have the foresight to cancel the membership and my credit card was charged. Am I responsible for these charges? What responsibility does the web site have regarding a minor accessing their site? Needless to say, my son no longer has any internet access, but I need to know if I am legally responsible for the charges incurred. Thanks!
