Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

My mother who is 89 and has Alzheimers and in a home has a credit card w/BofA for $11k which is now in collection. I tried making the pymts., but I can't anymore. Can they go after her pension? The only assets that are in her name is a checking acct. in which she gets her pension and ssi which I use to pay her rent.

If they sue her and get a judgment, they cannot get at the pension. They can get her bank account though. You are not liable for her debts.
