Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Multiple Phone Calls per day from Credit Card Company
I'm one payment behind on a credit card payment (payment was due 2 weeks ago and I don't have the money right now). I'm now receiving constant calls from the credit card company (at least half a dozen that I know of per day everyday). Thus far this Saturday morning I've received 4 calls between 8am and 10:30am. This seems excesive. I'm only 1 payment behind and have been in good standing prior to that. Regardless this seems rediculous to call multiple times per day not to mention 4 times in 2 and 1/2 hours on a Saturday morning. Is this considered harrassment? If so what do I do?

Re: Multiple Phone Calls per day from Credit Card Company
If it is the credit card company calling you, there is not much you can do. Ask for a supervisor and see if you can get them to stop calling so much. If that is not successful, then you should just let the calls go to voice mail.
If it is a collection agency, it is probably harassment. Then you need to look at violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You can read about this at my blog, www.californiadebtblog.com
