Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Notice of Levy

I own a real estate office and was served with a Earnings Garnishment which I ignored due to the fact that the individual they attempted to garnish was not an employee but an independent contractor. However, I was just served with a notice of levy which appears to have some effect on whether or not I have to hold and collect the individuals commissions for this levy. What are the legal repercussions? Do I have to hold commissions from this real estate agent or can I ignore the levy??

Re: Notice of Levy

If valid, do not ignore, must hold due commissions.
