Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I owe $1,170 to a credit card company on an account that was closed back in 2003. Last year I was contacted by a collection agency who called me repeatedly to pay on the account. Without knowing about the statute of limitation law, I agreed to make small monthly payments and have been doing so for about a year. Does the statute of limitation law still apply and can the agency have the account enforced by the courts?

Unfortunately, by making payments you revived the debt. The limitations still applies, but runs from the date of your last payment.
