Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

We paid but now she says she didn't recieve the money

My husband owed his ex girlfriend $1800.00 from a loan. We paid her $1500.00, but did not pay the remainder because she came and took back items that she had given him as gifts. Now we are being sued for the 300.00 still owed and court fees. I decided to pay her and get it over with before court, I sent a money order for the full amount by certified mail. However she now says she never recieved the money. She did this before with two checks totaling 200.00- and when we told her we wouldn't send another one she suddenly found the check. Will we have to pay her again in court?

If you have some evidence of the mailing, i.e. an enclosure letter and a copy or receipt for the money order, you will not have to pay her again. Present these to the court in her action, and you will win the case.
