Should I pay collection processing fee from the law firm?

I have an outstanding payment incurred 3 years ago that went into collection. I settled with the vendor once I found out about the debt (never received invoices from them). However, now the collection law firm is calling me for the processing fee, which is bigger than the actual debt. Should I pay? What will happen if I don't?
