Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
payment by check
I recently made arrangements to pay an outstanding debt by check, the arrangment was as follows 3 checks three payments three months. all checks were needed in advance this transaction took place over the phone. the pay period the first check was due i recieved a garnishment for a 96 tax liability reducing my deposit in the bank causing my check to bounce. I then recieved a call for the collection agencie, stating i was going to be turned into check systems and i was going to have to appear in court and i was going to loose my check writing ability for two years. in addition to that i was going to have to attend classes and conduct some community service. is this true or is this just an attempt to scare me into doing something i am truly unable to do? thank you for your attention
