Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

payroll

My last job is claiming that they deposited a paycheck (direct deposit) into my account by mistake. I told them that it showed ''pending'' but the next day it was not in my account. They are claiming that it was received by my bank. What are my rights? What are they allowed to do by law?

They can sue you for the amount. Whether they win would depend on whether they can prove their case.
