Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Previously disputed amount

In June of 2003 we terminated 8 lines with our cellular company. They continued to charge us after termination. We disputed the amount and it was taken off of our bill. In December 2005 we terminated the whole account. On our final bill the previously disputed amount was being charged to us. They have placed the account with a collection agency. Is this leagal?

Re: Previously disputed amount

The cellular provider has the right to take action to collect amounts that it believes are legally owed. You did not specify the basis for your dispute, so it is impossible to render an informed opinion on the legality of their actions.
