Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Protecting my credit in marriage

I am engaged to be married to a man with terrible credit (recent bankruptcy). I have heard that if I retain my current last name after marriage, my credit will not be affected by his credit. Is this true?

After marriage we intend to buy a home, will his bad credit affect our plans?

It doesnt matter what name you use, just keep him off your accounts and you stay off his. As far as buying the house, that is really up to the lender.
