Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Hi I pulled our credit report. 1 collection agency is charging us over $5000 for braces we never received for my son. The dentist does not have a signed contract from us. We have disputed this and no results have been made by the collection agency or dentist. The services were never rendered...why do we owe this? Please help.

If the dentist cannot provide proof of the debt, then the collection agency may have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in continuing to attempt to collect it, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act in continuing to report it on your credit report. Find an attorney in your area who represents consumers in FDCPA or FCRA actions - you need to consult with an attorney fairly quickly about how to get them to stop.
