Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I just received a bill from a hospital that provided services. Those services were more than 2.5 years ago, had been submitted to my medical insurance and now my portion has been billed to me. My question - is there a time limit in which a bill must be provided to a patient? I was unaware of this outstanding bill - and 2.5 years seems too long to expect payment.

No its not as they have up to 4 years to bring a suit against you for the balance or the bill for that matter. You should check with your insurer and determine what they say you have to pay versus what the hospital wants. You can always offer them less and they might take it if they want to get paid sooner than later.
