Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I received a collection agency letter that a "newspaper company" has requested that they collect my cirulation acc't. in the amount of $72.25
1. I had auto-charge from my checking acc't for delivery. After so many months I cancelled the paper and cancelled auto-charge from my checking which they did stop charging my checking acc't. I rec'e no statement or bill.
2.the paper was still left on my driveway,,I did not order.
3.all of a sudden, I received phone calls for payment. I told them I had stopped the paper when I stopped automatic payment from my checking acc't.
4.I received occasional phone calls for collection. I told them I never received any billing and do not owe them anything.
5.I received the first collecion agency letter requesting payment within 30 days.
Should I respond at all? Should I just ignore this letter from te collection agency?:,,,IThey don't even print the dates they claim I rec'd the paper nor have I ever rec'd an itemized bill. never received an itemized statement and never wanted the paper delivered.
Sure would appreciate an answer from you.
