I received in the mail, a notice to appear in court, regarding a debt to a credit
card. Due to my liver transplant last year, and bone cancer this year, I must admit, I
have fallen behind in my bills.I am currently on disibility, do i have to go to court? What can i do?

If you don't fight the lawsuit, you'll get a default judgment. However, if you simply cannot pay your bills, it is not a defense to a lawsuit simply because one failed to pay one's obligations due to sickness. You could still try to talk to the attorney who brought the suit and try to negotiate the stopping of the lawsuit and work out a deal, but that should really have been done before suit was filed. You can still try although most of these collection attorneys don't really want to negotiate at this stage.
