Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I received a medical bill of $476.00 from a clinic visit in 2010 that should have been all covered by insurance (PPO) at that time. I had no prior knowledge that the bill even existed. I had an insurance prescreen by the clinic to determine if my insurance would cover the fees. Am I obligated to pay the bill or is there some sort of statute of limitations? I am unemployed since August 2012 and am barely making ends meet.

Limitations is 4 years. If they defrauded you into using their services by lying about coverage, you would have a case not to pay the bill. But they do not control the insurance company's ultimate coverage decisions.
