Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Recently I cashed 2 paychecks at a check cashing. They both came up as unsufficient funds. My x employer said he would pay them at the check cashing in person, but failed to do so. Now I have the check cashing collections threatening to take legal action and possibly take me to court. The first check was in the amount of 260.00 and the second check was in the amount of 200.00 Now they are attatching a fifty dollar fee (25.00 per check) What is the worst case senerio here and why wouldn't my x employer be held liable? Please help! How much trouble will this fiasco cost me?

Thank you.

Sincerely, Susan E. Antonetti

Susan,

This fiasco should cost you $0. File a claim with the State Labor Commissioner, Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. Many attorneys, including myself, would also be interested in your case.
