Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I recently recived a summons from a collectiona agency on behalf of zigzag bailbonds in which, they are allegeing that money is owed in amount of 12,000 for bail that was posted for someone in 2005. I signed as a co-signer for a friend of mines in which she needed a fifthe signature inorder for her sone to get out on bail. My then friend and her son and his wife stated that in no way would I be liable for anything that they would be taking care of money down and reminder owe to bailbonds. The son attend all court hearing and was sentenced in April 2007 for his time. I was informed that his bail was exonerated but I'm getting calls from colletion threaten me to sue me for entire balance and not holding the other members which are all family for any expense. What can I do I have no money and I cannot afford this. The primary which is his wife is not even included in summons/suite. What can I do I need help, I tried to call the lawyer that is represnted by collections and he told me that he would just see me in court
