Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Recovering costs

I am a licensed PI. I am often asked to do locates and asset searches for individuals with small claims actions or judgements. Is there a statute or case law which I can give to my clients so that they might enlighten the PROTEMS who do not always know the laws and so choose to award no monies for costs.

Thank you

Re: Recovering costs

California Code of Civil Procedure (CCP) Section

116.610(g) notes that "The prevailing party is entitled to the costs of the action, including the costs of serving the order for the appearance of the defendant.

1032 addresses the issue of Recovery of Costs and the "prevailing party". CCP Section 1033.5 states items that are allowable and not allowable as costs following a judgment.
