Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
How do I remove judgement
I had a judgment for $2230 in 4/22/2003, I didn't know until I checked my credit report recently, I also found a letter from a law firm that they were still tried to collect with the amount of $3300(with interest) in 12/2007. Should I contact them to pay for, or maybe work out a negotiable deal with them, how long this judgment would stay on my credit report? Would they come after me to garnish my wages if I continued to ignore them?

Re: How do I remove judgement
A judgment is valid for 10 years and may be renewed for a similar period at that time.
I cannot advise you about what you should do. There is a possibility that the judgment creditor will not attempt to collect. However, interest does accumulate on the judgment, which eventually could be quite staggering.
Many creditors would be willing to take a lump sum discounted payment rather than go through the expense of attempting collection, particularly on a relatively small amount. If it does enter collections, a judgment creditor might garnish your wages and levy your bank account(s) -- often to the surprise and dismay of the judgment debtor who then finds out that other checks have bounced.
Make sure to put any agreement between you in writing and get a copy.
